Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V)
Through our IV&V engagements in support of the U.S. Air Force, the State of California and other agencies, Phoenix Engineering has gained valuable experience in system and software design and specification practices, coding standards, and testing processes. These projects ranged from computerized test stations for aircraft avionics to electronic warfare countermeasures and accident investigation systems.
This varied project experience gives Phoenix Engineering personnel a solid background in defining and precisely specifying requirements, in assessing risks, and in measuring contractor performance. These assignments also involved the development and application of metrics to assess the maintainability of software, the reliability of hardware, and the performance of business functions.
Phoenix Engineering provides project management consulting with extensive emphasis on the internationally recognized standard; the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). We develop and facilitate Project Management mentoring programs. Core concepts applied in the mentoring sessions include:
- Project plan development which includes project initiation, project selection methods, organizational forms, requirements planning/definition, risk planning, quality standard selection, cost/schedule baseline development and communication planning.
- Project plan execution to include scope verification, quality assurance, information distribution and team development.
- Overall change control is discussed to include quality control, cost/schedule control, scope change control, risk response control, and configuration management.
Phoenix Engineering has utilized best practices from internationally recognized entities such as Software Engineering Institute (SEI), the Project Management Institute (PMI), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Software Program Manager's Network (SPMN), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and ISO Standards.
