Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)
Our engineers have designed and built Test Program Sets (TPSs) for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) used in avionics and flight control environments as well as ground electronics applications.
Phoenix Engineering’s engineering team has extensive experience in all phases of Test Program Set development including technical analysis; test strategy development; interface device design; fabrication and testing of interface hardware prototypes; coding of tests, including fault isolation and diagnostic routines; software and hardware integration; support documentation, including Computer Program Specifications, Technical Orders and Test Manuals; preparation, delivery and training to military and commercial airline customers in the US and foreign countries.
Additionally, we have many years of experience supporting a diverse mix of both commercial and military ATEs and Test Program Sets at customer sites around the world, including military bases and deployed naval aircraft carriers. Phoenix Engineering has the experience to support all levels of maintenance from factory to field, taking account of the user's immediate needs, mission objectives and support strategy.

ATE Project Oversight and IV&V
During the design phase, Phoenix Engineering can:
Provide technical input at planning conferences and reviews
Assist in the establishment of requirements for a project, including technical data and evaluation of shop/test set capabilities and limitations
During the development phase, Phoenix Engineering will track deficiencies (requirements that are not met or addressed). The Phoenix Engineering team will confirm that hardware or software design is traceable to design specifications and project requirements.
Physical and functional audits highlight our efforts during the implementation phase. These audits verify that the delivered product is what the customer ordered (Physical Audit), that it performs as defined in the requirements and design criteria (Functional Audit) and that maintainability for the product's entire lifecycle is assured.
We have expert experience using ARINC SMART 626 ATLAS to develop TPSs for both new development and TPS offloading from older ATE systems to newer ATE systems. This experience includes:
designing complex Interface Devices
writing Non-ATLAS modules
designing and modifying device drivers
massaging macrocode for transmission over serial buses
coding and compiling on both UNIX and WindowsNT implementations of SMART 626 ATLAS, and integrating and troubleshooting ATE/TPS anomalies
We can also create TPS support documentation such as Test Strategy Reports (TSR), Test Requirement Documents (TRD), Test Diagrams (TD), Diagnostic Flow Charts (DFC) and Functional Flow Charts.
